Singing Her Story: The Musical Legacy of Black Women

Highlighting groundbreaking compositions, iconic voices, and unsung pioneers, this performance honors the Black women who transformed American music and shaped our broader history. In the spirit of Harriet Tubman Day, we celebrate the courage, vision, and leadership of women whose liberation efforts and creative genius redefined the American landscape.

10th Wave Chamber Music Collective is a Twin Cities ensemble bringing a fresh and welcoming spirit to contemporary chamber music. Formed in 2017, the musician-led collective explores music by living, local, and historically underrepresented composers, blending classical traditions with modern, electronic, and interdisciplinary sounds. Their performances are designed to be intimate, engaging experiences that invite audiences into the music rather than simply asking them to listen. 10th Wave has performed everywhere from traditional concert halls to breweries, schools, outdoor festivals, and backyard concerts. At the heart of their work is a simple idea: great music can create community, spark curiosity, and belong to everyone.
