Litfest is delighted that the 6th Lancaster International Fiction Lecture, a joint venture with the School of Global Affairs at Lancaster University, will be given by the acclaimed Ukrainian writer Andrey Kurkov.

Novelist, journalist and commentator, and Chair of Ukrainian PEN, Andrey Kurkov will talk about the opportunities and obligations of fiction, about language and culture, and especially about the challenge of writing in the language of the occupier – Kurkov writes in Russian – and will answer the question: ‘What can fiction do in a time of war?’
