To mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Peter Taylor tells for the first time the secret and gripping story of ‘Operation Chiffon’, the security initiative that finally helped bring peace to Ireland. Taking us inside the top-secret intelligence operation, whose roots go back to the bloodiest years of the conflict in the early 1970s, he reveals in first-hand detail how those involved risked their careers – and their lives – to help secure the fragile peace that exists today.

This event will be the first public discussion of Peter Taylor's ground-breaking new book.

Peter Taylor OBE is a highly respected and distinguished BBC journalist who is best known for his coverage of the Irish conflict and political violence. He has won many awards for his work including Journalist of the Year (2003) and lifetime achievement awards from BAFTA and the RTS in 2014. His books and documentaries include Provos, Loyalists and Brits.

Thomas Mills is Senior Lecturer in Diplomatic and International History at Lancaster University and Director of its Centre for War and Diplomacy.
