When we hear the words Ego Death, it can sound very spiritual.

Release the ego. Let go of attachment. Surrender the identity. Become the observer. Remember who you really are.

But there is another side of ego death that I don't think we talk about enough in spiritual circles:

We spend years talking about awakening as though we are simply going to discover more and more of ourselves. We expect expansion. More awareness. More intuition. More connection. More understanding. But eventually the spiritual journey begins asking us to do something very different.

It begins asking us to release. And sometimes what it asks us to release are the very identities we worked incredibly hard to discover.
