Recent announcements of cuts to the civil service have brought change and uncertainty for many in the public sector. But with change comes opportunity. How can you identify and make the most of it? Moving into a new organisation feels like a huge risk, with the potential for loss of personal reputation and organisational identity. However, the possibility to develop yourself and progress your career through adversity is tangible and achievable.

This presentation focuses on the perceived challenges, giving practical techniques and real world examples of how to navigate through a new organisation, its culture, building new relationships, learning new processes and the whole logistical challenges the change can bring.

Having moved into the world of self employment after 30 years in the public sector, the presenter also explores the possibility of going it alone, taking your career in a completely different direction and the potential 'risk to reward' of doing so.

This session is delivered by Andy Cribbin, an experienced senior police officer who has led the police response to challenging and high profile murder investigations in Lancashire. He retired as the  Detective Superintendent with strategic responsibility for all homicide investigations. Andy now works as a consultant conducting reviews and project management in the public and private sector, as well as delivering leadership and personal development training.
