"Hacking Container Security" - Super Cyber Friday

By CISO Series

Please join us on Friday, October 6, 2023 for Super Cyber Friday.

Our topic of discussion will be “Hacking Container Security: An hour of critical thinking about how to shine a light into an image’s black box.”

Joining David Spark (@dspark), producer of CISO Series for this discussion will be:
  • Mackenzie Jackson, Developer Advocate, GitGuardian
  • David Cross (@Mrdbcross), CISO, Oracle SaaS Cloud
In preparation for our discussion, think about the following:
  • What are containers and how do we use them in modern app development?
  • Why are containers becoming a security issue? How are hackers infiltrating container images, and what are the vulnerabilities in the containerization process that they exploit?
  • What sensitive information can containers hold?
  • How are container images constructed?
  • Docker is a widely used container platform; what are the components of Docker images, and why do they require proactive security measures?
  • What can you do to reverse the container process and understand what’s inside?
  • Where is your organization exposing data through containers?
  • How are secrets being managed in containers?
  • How can you secure their container registries using honeytokens, and what role do these decoy credentials play in identifying unauthorized access attempts?

It all starts at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. At the end of the hour [2 PM Eastern/11 AM Pacific] we'll switch gears to our meetup where everyone will get a chance to chat face to face.

HUGE thanks to our sponsor, GitGuardian
