In this webinar, we will spend time on our CDI Pocket Guide topic “Heart Failure.” We will explain the mechanics of heart failure, the structural and functional causes, and the clinical diagnostic standards and diagnostic tests to identify it. We’ll clarify the various types of heart failure (systolic, diastolic, right, end stage) including the classification based on ejection fraction (HFrEF, etc.), and the clinical indicators for acuity (acute, decompensated), treatment, as well as the coding challenges for heart failure associated with other conditions. Illustrative case examples will be included to apply the learned concepts.
