Dennis Mitchell currently serves as the President of the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP), where he holds the rank of Grand Master II Beer Judge with Mead and Cider Judge endorsements. Dennis has been homebrewing for more than a decade and was one of the youngest and quickest ever to earn the BJCP Grand Master rank, doing so in 433 days from taking his first exam.

He is a contributor to the 2015 and 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines and has graded more than 750 exams in his time as a BJCP exam grader and former BJCP Associate Exam Director. Outside of the BJCP, Dennis has served as a GABF judge, a former member of the American Homebrewers Association Governing Committee, and as the Vice President and Competitions/Education Director for the Arizona Society of Homebrewers. He is also a multiple final-round medalists in the National Homebrew Competition for both beer and mead.

Outside of homebrewing, Dennis's day job is as an administrator in higher education, where his passion for education expands beyond homebrewing and the BJCP.
