The DDGC Germanists for Palestine Research Cooperative and the Feminists in German Studies BDS Working Group warmly invite you join us for a virtual series of events in collaboration with groundbreaking scholars Anna-Esther Younes and Hanna Al-Taher: Intifada Talks: Colonization, Uprisings, and Revolutionary Thought.

Intifada Talks highlights anti-imperial thought reaching beyond the conventional boundaries of German Studies. Each virtual roundtable or panel event will bring together writers, researchers, artists, and/or filmmakers from around the world to tackle issues of empire and resistance from Turtle Island to Congo, documenting both colonial continuities and transnational strategies of solidarity. Panels will focus on topics such as Palestinian liberation and the Black radical tradition, settler-colonialism and Indigeneity, anti-imperialism and state violence, counter-terrorism and counter-insurgencies, international human rights law, and more.

A Red Road to Palestine is a chronicle of Kanien’kehá:ka filmmaker Clifton Ariwakehte Nicholas’s 2016 trip to Palestine, highlighting “the deep parallels between Indigenous struggles in North America and Palestine—two peoples fighting against settler colonialism, displacement, and erasure.”

Clifton Ariwakehte Nicholas is a Kanien’kehá:ka filmmaker and the director of A Red Road to Palestine. Clifton was part of the resistance to the 1990 Oka Crisis, and his previous documentaries include Elsipogtog: No Fracking Way! and Karistatsi Onienre: The Iron Snake.

Franklin López is a filmmaker from Borikén (Puerto Rico) and founder of Amplifier Films. He has produced award-winning films documenting Indigenous resistance to colonization including INVASION, Yintah, and La Lucha Sigue.
