Enterprise edge computing is moving beyond the data center and into factories, retail stores, vehicles, utilities, and other distributed environments. While cloud operations, and micro/macro datacenter scale edge are well understood, operating thousands of geographically distributed edge nodes at far/device edge layer remains a challenge.

How do you securely deploy workloads, manage their lifecycle, connect services, and scale operations without creating excessive complexity or becoming dependent on a single vendor?

In this webinar, we will explore Eclipse ioFog, an open source EdgeOps platform designed for large-scale distributed edge environments. Eclipse ioFog provides a lightweight and hardware-agnostic operational model with built-in secure service interconnection and messaging fabric capabilities, enabling organizations to deploy and manage workloads from the far edge to the device edge.

We will also give a first look at the next generation of Eclipse ioFog, including a new ultra-lightweight container runtime and node agent designed specifically for far-edge and device-edge deployments.

Emirhan Durmuş graduated with a BSc in Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2012.

Although he initially pursued an MSc in the same field, he switched paths in 2014 and moved into the ICT industry. Throughout his career, he has worked with global technology companies such as Fujitsu and SUSE, gaining experience across enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, and the open source ecosystem.

Since 2017, his primary focus has been distributed edge and fog computing. After leaving SUSE, he founded Datasance, where they focus on building enterprise-ready open source EdgeOps platforms.

Since December 2025, he has also been serving as the Project Leader of Eclipse ioFog, maintaining the codebase, helping drive the project's open source strategy, and community growth.
