Tracey Lien is the author of the acclaimed debut novel All That’s Left Unsaid. Set in Australia and written while she was a graduate student at KU, the novel follows a young Vietnamese-Australian woman who returns home to her family in the wake of her brother’s shocking murder, determined to discover what happened — a dramatic exploration of the intricate bonds and obligations of friendship, family, and community. The novel was named 2023 best debut novel of Australia’s by the country’s independent booksellers. Born and raised in South Western Sydney, Australia, Lien earned her MFA in creative writing at KU in 2021 and was previously a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Lien will participate in a variety of programs for the week that she is in residence.
