There are dog trainers. And then there are the people who quietly change the way dog trainers think. Brenda Aloff is one of those people.

Long before cross-species learning or neuroscience became fashionable in dog training, Brenda was looking beyond the dog world for answers. A lifelong horsewoman, she brought the feel, timing, and clarity required to work safely with large, powerful animals into her work with dogs. When traditional dog training didn't offer the answers she needed...especially for dogs with serious behavioral challenges, she kept looking. She studied marine mammal training, exotic animal training, wolf behavior, and learning theory, pulling together ideas that helped shape a more thoughtful, effective approach to behavior modification and positive reinforcement.

For more than three decades, she's been the trainer other trainers studied. Her books have been dog-eared, highlighted, and passed from hand to hand. Her work on body language, timing, mechanics, and ethology has influenced thousands of professionals...many of whom don't even realize they're standing on a foundation she helped build.

She's never been interested in trends; she's been interested in understanding.

In watching one more repetition, noticing one more flick of an ear. If you don't know, Brenda has spent her career reminding us that the greatest training tool isn't in your hand. It's your ability to see.

This conversation about how great trainers/handlers/sidekicks are made.

We'll explore the dogs that changed our minds- from shepherds to border collies to murderiffic rat terriers and now mini poodles (Brenda, I effing love you). Why observation is becoming a lost art, what horses taught us about dogs, how timing becomes feel, and why the longer you've worked with animals, the more curiosity matters.

If you've ever wanted to hear how one of the true architects of modern dog training thinks, not just what she teaches, join this conversation.
