Nurture your inner rebel

By The Happy Startup School

Welcome to the first Friday Fireside of 2025!

The first week back after the festive break can feel daunting, and the pressure to get back to work immediately hits hard.

Do you run head-first into a new year? You’re not alone.

But what if we rebelled against the belief that we need to push through?

What if it’s punk to pause? To quote The Nap Bishop Tricia Hersey, that “rest is a form of resistance”?

To explore this and more, we’re delighted to be joined by Caro Turlings and Jobbe Holtes, multi-talented creatives and Vision alumni with a deep love for music, dancing, and dressing up.

A real-life couple turned collaborators, they’re hosting their first "rebel retreat" in February to help fellow rebels and creatives to pause and recharge, reconnect, and reignite.

Join us to explore:
  • Many hands lift us: Doing something alone makes your journey harder. Caro and Jobbe are supported by their local community in Groeningen and our Vision Tribe to collaborate, test ideas, and spread the word. They ask us to forget DIY and embrace DIT (Do It Together).
  • Stepping out and stepping up: Caro has worked as a designer for many years, hidden behind others. She didn’t feel allowed to do her own thing. It’s been a journey for her to become visible as a facilitator and spaceholder in her own right.
  • Inviting our inner rebel to play: Change means getting comfortable with the uncomfortable and reclaiming our time and energy. Learn how creativity, rest, and discovering the rebel within can help to fuel the change you want to create in the world.
If you want to make a positive impact but think the only way through is to push until you burn out, this conversation will help you find a new way to make a difference more sustainably.
