George Monbiot - The Lancaster Environment 'Feeding the World without Devouring the Planet'

By Lancaster Litfest

In partnership with Lancaster University, Litfest is delighted to welcome leading environmental campaigner George Monbiot, whose brilliantly researched and compelling books and articles have raised questions that need answering and, together with his videos, have inspired campaigners and activists throughout the world.
The inaugural Lancaster Environment Lecture was given at Liftest in March 2022 by the Indian eco-campaigner and feminist, Dr Vandana Shiva. In the 2023 lecture George Monbiot will address one of the most challenging challenges facing humanity – how to feed the world without destroying the planet.
George Monbiot is an author, Guardian columnist and environmental campaigner. Among his best-selling books are Feral, Out of the Wreckage and Regenesis, while his videos, including How Wolves Change Rivers and Natural Climate Solutions for the Climate Crisis (co-presented with Greta Thunberg) have been viewed on YouTube more than 40 and 60 million times respectively.
Supported by the following departments at Lancaster University: Languages & Cultures, English Literature & Creative Writing, Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Arts, Lancaster Environment Centre, Law, Politics, Philosophy & Religion, Sociology.
