Revive Edmonton Town hall
By Jaffer for Mayor
Edmonton mayoral candidate Rahim Jaffer announced today that he will launch a town hall tour on big issues such as infill, housing, public safety and other critical issues facing neighbourhoods – because City Council has stopped listening.
“The situation we’re witnessing with this city council is tragic. City councillors are ignoring citizens, and some aren’t even showing up for critical votes on the important issues they claim to care about. That’s not leadership – that’s failure,” Jaffer said. “The Revive Edmonton Tour will listen to Edmontonians directly affected by issues like infill and public safety so we can get them right, for all of Edmonton.”
The Revive Edmonton Tour will begin this July and include in-person and virtual forums. The goal is simple: listen to those actually affected by these decisions and create policy that reflects the will of Edmontonians, not special interests and developers.
“Right now, we’re seeing a complete breakdown of trust between City Hall and the people it’s supposed to serve,” Jaffer said. “I’m going to rebuild that trust by listening first – and then delivering policies that respect homeowners, neighbourhoods, and communities. And unlike City Council for the past 20 years, I will follow-through once in office. I know Edmontonians are as sick and tired of empty promises as I am.”
Jaffer said he’s the only candidate Edmontonians can trust to get the city back on track because every other candidate is either on City Council now or has been in the past, and they’ve failed the people of Edmonton time and again.
“It’s time for a mayor who cares, a mayor who actually shows up, and a mayor who understands that Edmontonians are the boss,” Jaffer said. “We will build a city that works for all of Edmonton, and that work starts now.”
