AFA Fireside Chat: The Link Between Pain & Agitation with Aggression in Dementia

By Alzheimer's Foundation of America

Dementia can impair a person’s communication abilities and prevent them from verbalizing when they are in pain, which can lead to aggression. This episode will explain the link between pain and aggression; warning signs and ways to assess that someone with dementia is in pain; and ways caregivers can proactively prevent aggression due to untreated pain.

Speaker: Jeremy Koppel, MD Co-Director, Litwin-Zucker Center for the Study of Alzheimer’s Disease, Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research Assistant Professor, Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Member, AFA Medical, Scientific, and Memory Screening Advisory Board
