How to harness your story of change

By The Happy Startup School

This week we kicked off Tribe 6 of Vision 20/20. It's our flagship group coaching program where we help founders, freelancers, designers, changemakers, coaches and consultants create an excite strategy for their work... and life. One of the core models we share with participants of the program is the Story of Change. Based on the Satir Change Model, developed by Virginia Satir (family therapist and author), we use it to describe the transformation we wish for others.

Rather than build products and services that we hope people will buy, we advocate a more design thinking approach that's based on understanding the change that people want to see in their lives. This helps us to focus on making things that matter and creating actual value in people's lives. If you're new to this model it can feel a bit challenging and complex. To get to grips with it we suggest using it on yourself: describe where you're at now, where you'd like to be and what's getting in the way. You can then start working from the inside out. When thinking of a new business idea or product you can think about your own story of change and the help you wished you'd had. Think of it as scratching an old itch. Or creating transformation that you know inside out. On this episode of the Friday Fireside we're joined by Serena Savini, HR Expert and founder and host of the I'm Back! Podcast. She was a member of Tribe 4 and we'd like to share with you her mission to help people come back to work from life changing injuries and experiences. We also want to share her own story of change and of launching her podcast. And how this story is helping others. If you're navigating a pivotal moment in you professional life or embarking on a project that is totally out of your comfort zone then this is for you.
