This class will focus on an concept that we get lots of questions about: What is true empathy as opposed to sympathy? There is the ego’s version of empathy, which is not the true empathy the Course speaks about. We will explore the distinction between the two.  We will explore the idea in the Course that most people use empathy which is based on past experience. True empathy must include everyone, not a select “special” group of people, which is similar to the idea that true forgiveness must include everyone for it to be truly helpful and undo the false ego self that we’ve become identified with.  So, this class will be about how to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you to not join in others suffering, but instead have a genuine sense of compassion and understanding of what others might be going through, but without making dreams of pain real to your own mind; we’ll dive deep into that idea.
