Ageism Unmasked with Tracey Gendron

By Fountain Bookstore

We are honored to bring you this book on a topic that deserves attention! Tracey and Kelly will be in conversation to be broadcast live from Fountain!
About the Book:
In Ageism Unmasked (Steerforth Press) Dr. Tracey Gendron reveals the biases behind the false understanding of aging, sharing powerful opportunities for personal growth along with strategies to help create an anti-ageist society.
Ageism Unmasked shifts perspective on the topic of aging. This enables readers to see how attitudes and behaviors toward differently aged people that would be rejected and condemned if applied to any other group is accepted when it comes to people in different age categories. It exposes the shocking way cultural norms and unconscious prejudices have seeped into everyday lives. This quietly shapes the treatment of others based on their age and misconceptions about aging.
The book is a much-needed account of the history and current realities of ageism by a nationally recognized gerontologist. Ageism Unmasked uncovers ageism's roots, impact, and how each of us can create a new reality for elderhood.
Offering an all-inclusive approach, some of the topics discussed in the book are:
· Letting go of the desperate need to stay young.
· Appreciating both the challenges and opportunities aging offers.
· Showing how ageism is prejudice towards both younger and older people.
· Resetting expectations for getting old.
· Provides the tools to anticipate and experience elderhood as a time of renewed meaning and purpose.
Ageism Unmasked continues Dr. Gendron's transformative work inspiring people of all ages to embrace aging as our universal and lifelong process of developing over time — biologically, psychologically, socially, and spiritually.
