Join Tucson Festival of Books for an exclusive conversation with New York Times Reporter Walter Thompson-Hernández moderated by author John Branch. Thompson-Hernández will discuss his book "The Compton Cowboys: The New Generation of Cowboys in America's Urban Heartland."
Based in Los Angeles, Walter Thompson-Hernández began his career with the New York Times in 2017 as a reporter covering subculture and offbeat communities around the world. He is the host of a podcast called California Love at Los Angeles’s NPR station, KPCC. Thompson-Hernández has reported from six continents and throughout the United States. He is a winner of the prestigious Whiting Creative Nonfiction Grant for his work on "The Compton Cowboys."
John Branch is a San Francisco-based sports reporter for The New York Times and the author of "Boy on Ice: The Life and Death of Derek Boogaard."His latest book is "The Last Cowboys."
