Let's Spin a Bedtime Story presented by New Hazlett Theater

By Show Must Go Online

(run-time 45 minutes)
Attention children of all ages! The New Hazlett Theater needs your help. We’ve brought together three amazing creators to spin a brand-new tale, but they are missing some of the details! Bring your pajamas and your popcorn and join storyteller Parag S. Gohel, cartoonist Joe Wos, and musician David Bernabo to help them bring this new bedtime story to life. Wos will illustrate the story live to screen with prompts from the audience. Don’t miss the collaborative adventure for the whole family!
David Bernabo is a filmmaker, musician, dancer, visual artist, and writer, performing with the bands Watererer, Host Skull, Cowsboys, Gawdz, and How Things Are Made; often collaborating with Maree ReMalia | merrygogo. He curates and produces work for the Ongoing Box imprint and co-curates the Lightlab Performance Series with slowdanger. David’s films have screened on PBS and at the On Art Film Festival, JFilm Festival, RE:NEW Festival, Afronaut(a) Film Club, the Foodable Film Festival, and on WQED’s Filmmakers Corner.
Parag S. Gohel is a freelance performer and teaching artist who currently serves as the Director of Education at Quantum Theatre and adjunct faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. He has worked in various roles with local companies, including the Public, City Theatre, PICT, and Bricolage, where he helped develop and perform in the premier production of Welcome to Here, later titled, The Forest of Everywhere, an immersive theatrical experience for children with ASD. Parag was last seen as Mr. Bob Acres in Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Playtime: The Rivals.
Joe Wos has been a professional cartoonist since the age of 14. He spent 25 years touring nationwide as a performer, illustrating stories live as he told them; founding and running a cartoon art museum (ToonSeum) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; illustrating symphony performances live with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; and exhibiting his art in museums worldwide. With MazeToons – a unique hybrid illustration that is part cartoon part puzzle – Joe has fulfilled a lifelong dream to appear in the funny pages.
The Show Must Go On(line) is made possible thanks to generous support from the Benter Foundation, The Heinz Endowments, the Juliet Lea Hillman Simonds Foundation, the Opportunity Fund, The Pittsburgh Foundation, and an Anonymous Foundation.
