Chrysanthemum Brush Painting Online Class
The Chrysanthemum is one of the "Four Gentlemen" or "Four Seasons. It is the symbol of “Autumn Season: The Triumphant in Life: Persistence, Patience and Fortitude.”
Up to the Southern Sung period in China (1127-1280 A.D.), only the literati and retired scholars treated the Chrysanthemum as a special subject in painting.
To paint the essence of this or any other flower, you must understand the plant. Notice how the flowers and leaves are facing in various directions, with some being partially hidden by others but never in a cluttered or disorderly manner. Every portion of the plant must be rendered in its own, full character.
