Moving from Coping Mechanisms to Coping Strategies

By Seed & Sew

Have you been working to build your child's emotional toolbox but struggling with how and where coping strategies fit in?
After validating and connecting with a kiddo we can offer coping support. There are two types of coping— mechanisms and strategies.
In this workshop we will dive into mechanisms and strategies, looking at the differences between the two, how they can co-exist, and how to move from coping mechanisms to coping strategies. Here are some of the tools you’ll learn during my upcoming workshop:
  • Building long-term healthy coping strategies without stripping kids of their current comfort items
  • How to foster a relationship with emotions where kids feel safe to express them
  • How to help your child build a toolbox for calming their body
