What’s Next? Emma Dabiri

By ILFD

When it comes to racial justice, how do we transform demonstrations of support into real and meaningful change?
Emma Dabiri’s What White People Can Do Next: From Allyship to Coalition is a manifesto for meaningful and lasting change born from the need to talk about racial injustice in a new way. This robust, powerful and nuanced examination of race, class and capitalism is drawn from years of academic study and lived experience, as well as her personal reflections on a year like no other.
Always a popular ILFDublin guest, Emma Dabiri is an Irish-Nigerian academic, activist, broadcaster and teaching fellow in the Africa department at SOAS. Her acclaimed debut Don’t Touch My Hair inspired a national conversation about race and hair and has led to changing regulations in schools and in the British army.
Emma will be in conversation with writer and broadcaster Colin Grant, author of Homecoming: Voices of the Windrush Generation. They will discuss What White People Can Do Next and take questions from the audience.
