This holiday season, City of Asylum has swan-dived into our archives to bring you some of our most memorable moments of programs past. Tonight, we honor the great luminary Pittsburgh Jazz musician “Mr. Trombone” Harold Betters with an evening of tributes. This program features an eclectic ensemble of musicians, a trombone choir, and a jam session recorded with Harold @ City of Asylum in 2018-- showcasing Harold Betters life's work and the continuation of his legacy.
Harold Betters (March 21, 1928 – October 11, 2020) was an American jazz trombone player. A prominent jazz musician in Pittsburgh, PA. Betters released nine LPs on Gateway Records, and three LPs for Reprise Records.
