Homeopathy and Counselling Skills for Grief and Loss

Homeopathy and Counselling Skills for Grief and Loss
This webinar is in two parts, recorded separately.
Grief and loss affects all of us, in a variety of ways, for a wide range of reasons throughout our lives.
As homeopaths, we know that distressing life events such as bereavement, divorce or redundancy can be underlying causes of physical as well as mental and emotional symptoms.
Working with clients who are processing grief and loss can be challenging as well as rewarding, even for the experienced practitioner.
We need to be able to offer empathy and emotional intelligence during the consultation.
We also need self-reflection and self-care practices to maintain our own well-being and resilience.
Webinar content
1. Counselling skills
- Active listening
- Non-judgment
- Reflecting and paraphrasing
- Clarifying and summarising
When we consciously develop these skills, all of our clients will feel more heard and understood.
This helps them with the challenges of recognising and processing their feelings as they work through their grief and loss.
2. Boundaries
- Self-reflection strategies
- Peer mentoring
- Practical self-care
When we recognise our own needs and make time for them, we foster our own resilience and positivity.
This helps avoid compassion fatigue and burnout, which is essential for all therapists.
3. Homeopathy
- Remedies for different types of grief
- Homeobotanicals and other practical supports
Notes
There is a clear set of notes to go alongside the training.
My background
I've been in homeopathy practice in east London for 13 years.
My first career was in teaching, and my last position was Assistant Head Teacher.
Between 2000 - 2010 I also held a range of voluntary and paid roles within the Breastfeeding Network, a national charity.
BfN training includes a major focus on counselling skills and supervision.
For ten years I was a Breastfeeding Supporter at local groups and on the National Breastfeeding Helpline.
I was also a Tutor and Supervisor at BfN, providing training for midwives and health visitors as well as supervision.
I am very grateful to have learned counselling skills with BfN as I use them in my everyday life as well as in my practice.
