Online Assembly: Paraplanner to something else career hour

By Paraplanners' Assembly

What's it all about?

At our events, we often explore the different career paths open to Paraplanners.
We've spent a lot of time discussing how to enhance your knowledge and experience so you become a more qualified and experienced Paraplanner. We've talked through managing paraplanning teams. Plus, we've focussed a lot on the roles for paraplanners within, well, paraplanning.
However, we've spent very little to no time looking at career options beyond paraplanning. Well, we fully intend to rectify that situation with this Q&A event. Taking your questions will be Rohan Sivajoti and Caroline Singleton - both former paraplanners who have moved into different roles. Rohan is a Director and Adviser at Postcard Planning. He's also the co-founder of NextGen Planners. Caroline is a Technical Specialist at Money Matters, setting and ensuring the company maintains its compliance standards. Rohan and Caroline will share their stories and we'll explore: 1. Their career paths 2. What they learnt in paraplanning that stands them in good stead today 3. How they planned (or didn't) their careers 4. Their tips for moving from one role to another: How do you transition well?
This is a live Q&A, so if there is something that you want to ask Rohan and Caroline on the above or anything else, pop it in the question section after you've registered or ask on the day.

Meet the panel

  • Rohan Sivajoti - Rohan is the Co-Founder of NextGen Planners and Founder of Postcard Planning. He is a keen cricketer with a waning talent for the game and is currently 62 countries into his target of visiting 100 before he turns 40
  • Caroline Singleton - Caroline is a Technical Specialist for North East IFA firm, Money Matters. Essex girl turned northern lass, she enjoys shopping, drinking coffee and talking all things finance.
  • Richard Allum - Founder of The Paraplanners (and manages to run a few paraplanner events, or something like that).
Our panel will join us on Wednesday 8th July, at 1.00pm for this hour-long online chat.
Want to ask them a question on the topic already? Go on, once you've registered, pop your question under the Q&A section - don't wait for the event, or email us here, or ask in real-time on the day.

How does this Online thing work?
Save your spot by clicking the button on the top right. It's free, the only thing you have to do is register an account.
On the day of the event just sign back in here. But, we'll also send a reminder email ten minutes before it starts.
On the tech side of things. Viewing the events on browsers such as Chrome or Firefox work best. Headphones are a good idea if you share an office, plus the ability to type so that you can ask questions via the chat feature.
What if I can't make it to the event?
Just sign-in and view a recording of the session whenever it suits you.
Can I ask questions?
Yes! As many as you can throw at our panel. Plus, if you can't make the event, book a spot and add a question beforehand, the panel will then answer it during the event.
Can I suggest a topic or be on the panel?
Absolutely, the more the merrier. Drop us an email.
Are there more Online events?
You bet your bottom dollar there are, and on lots of useful topics for paraplanners. Watch past and/or register for any upcoming events here.
There isn't an upcoming event listed, when will the next one be?
Sorry about that. We're just confirming the topics and putting together an A-Team panel for it. We do aim for every last Wednesday of the month, at lunchtime (1-2pm for most normal folk), so you can join in while eating your sandwich.
Sometimes we'll throw a curve ball and change the date. That's because we want to bring you AMAZING panel members, and they just can't make Wednesdays. It's as simple as that.
Actually, my question was on something else
Ooh, we like new questions. Just pop it in an email and send it on its merry way tohere.
One last question, what do you do with my details when I sign up?
Crikey, another good question! We’ll use your details to keep you posted on our happenings. From time to time, this will include activities that our supporters are participating in that we think you’ll find interesting. We share information at an aggregate level with our supporters every now and then. Please see our Privacy Policy here for details of how we will process your personal information.
