Learning Math Through Your Child's Eyes - How Elementary Math is Taught

Are you confused or concerned about how mathematics is currently being taught to your children in school? Mathematics educator Rhonda Hewer of the Waterloo Region District School Board explains how children are learning math today and why learning through this approach is beneficial to a child's development and understanding of important math concepts. Parents and caregivers may ask questions and can learn tips on how to help and support children succeed at math. This program will be available as a replay after the live event.
Rhonda Hewer is currently a mathematics educator with the Waterloo Region District School board and has been for 18 years. She has spent 10 years teaching Grades 4 - 8 mathematics and the last 8 years has had the role of a mathematics learning consultant within the Waterloo Region District Schoolboard. Rhonda has a Masters of Education specializing in mathematics development in children from Wilfred Laurier University.
