Sanja Kulenovic presents The Siege of Sarajevo
In 1992, Bosnian honeymooners in Southern California are suddenly stranded and homeless when their native Yugoslavia erupts into civil war. The stunned refugees must scrape together a new life in America with sporadic letters their sole, tenuous link to besieged family and loved ones back in Sarajevo. Sanja Kulenovic shares those precious letters—often written in darkness as bombs fell and gunfire rang out—to vividly capture the suffering her family and other Sarajevans endured through almost four years of daily bombardments, the perpetual threat of sniper fire, and three frozen, foodless winters.
The Siege of Sarajevo searingly illustrates the human toll of war and the highly personal consequences of what often are dismissed as faraway conflicts. Highlighting the resilience and determination of immigrants, Kulenovic’s powerful story reminds us all that we are stronger than we’ve ever imagined.
Jadurani presents The Art of Spiritual Life
The Art of Spiritual Life is a poetic title, not a literal one. It is not a how-to book, as would be "the art of cooking" or "the art of creative knitting." The title is a double entendre. Much of my life's calling has been as a fine artist, and thus the title refers to my personal journey — as a visual artist and someone attempting to learn the "art" of spiritual life. It is a memoir in which I invite you to come along with me as I share my life-experiences with two world renowned saints. These saints carried me on journeys to other lands, other times, and other worlds by their guidance regarding the eternal wisdom of ancient India. What I received from them became the subject of my art and my life. The goal of this memoir is to share my experiences of their divine presence and their message of devotional consciousness. My sharing is but a drop of the causeless mercy they bestowed upon their thousands of students and the world.
