Dr TODD GRAY and KATE GARBERS on SLAVERY IN THE SOUTH WEST: PAST AND PRESENT. Moderated by SAMANTHA KNIGHTS QC. This panel event will discuss the history and present reality of slavery and trafficking in the South West of England. Dr Todd Gray MBE is an Honorary Research Fellow at Exeter University and the author of Devon & The Slave Trade and Not One Of Us. He has pioneered the topic of black history, particularly slavery, in Devon. Kate Garbers founded and for many years was managing director of the Bristol based anti-slavery organisation Unseen. She developed projects to support survivors of slavery , worked with law enforcement agencies and governmental departments on tackling trafficking and slavery. She has received numerous awards for her work and is currently writing a book on the subject.
