Abstract:

As craft breweries have become more prevalent across the state, municipal water utilities have begun to look at craft brewers with much more scrutiny than in the past. This new scrutiny in some municipalities has led to massive waste-water surcharges applied to breweries. Savvy brewers would be well-served by implementing wastewater pre-treatment wherever possible to avoid these fees and to reduce their impact on their local water utility.
