This week's POSE OF THE WEEK is all about cultivating the UUJAYI breath.

This is the breath we aim to use throughout our asana practice. Ujjayi means ‘triumphantly uprising’. This is a method of controlling the flow of air in order to regulate the length of the breath.

it is done by slightly closing your throat so them hat the breath makes a sound just loud enough to hear. The sound in the throat is made by toning the epiglottis.

You will feel it in the back of your throat

An important benefit it provides, other than the control it provides, is that its sound can be used as a feedback mechanism and as object of concentration
