  • An Algorithmic Monetary System Based on UBI and Demurrage by Omar Syed Omar Syed will discuss his proposal of the “GETCoin monetary system” and how this system could be implemented using distributed ledger technology and provide UBI while maintaining a stable digital price.
  • Outgrowing Capitalism to fund UBI by Marco Dondi Marco Dondi will discuss his proposal of Monetism: “a new holistic system where the central bank creates part of the money supply every year and gives it to citizens as a UBI”
  • Prove You Are Human, Start Getting UBI: An Interactive, Participatory Workshop [Stephens] Herb Stephens will discuss his work with the Democracy.Earth Foundation, partnering with Kleros, in creating “a UBI token and a self-sovereign identity validation process called Proof of Humanity that enables UBI to reach everyone on Earth.”

Herb Stephens, Democracy Earth Foundation
Herb Stephens the co-founder and a Board Director of the Democracy Earth Foundation, a nonprofit backed by YCombinator and the entity behind the UBI token. Prior to Democracy Earth, Herb has been a serial Silicon Valley entrepreneur and global corporate executive.
Marco Dondi
Since his humble beginnings on the outskirts of Milan, Marco Dondi has established his career and expertise as a strategy consultant with over a decade of experience in advising CEOs and government officials on economics, banking, labor and education. Marco holds an MBA (INSEAD, 2012) and a Master’s in Management, Economics, and Industrial Engineering (Politecnico di Milano, 2009). At 28 years of age, Marco went on a Vipassana meditation retreat and re-emerged from a quarter-life crisis with a renewed sense of purpose. Since then, he has been on a mission to challenge and reform the social conventions that hinder people from their pursuit of a fulfilling life.
Omar Syed, Shardus
Over the past three decades Omar has been involved with helping large organizations such as NASA, Yahoo, and Zynga build scalable, fault tolerant, distributed systems for mission critical applications. In early 2016 he started Unblocked Inc., a blockchain consultancy company. In 2017 he organized the Shardus project to build a linearly scalable blockchain. Omar holds a B.S. and M.S. from Case Western Reserve University with specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Omar’s long term vision is a world where everyone receives a stable cryptocurrency based on UBI and demurrage.
