Louisa Lim: Indelible City
By TPLCulture
Award-winning author and journalist Louisa Lim shares her new book Indelible City: Dispossession and Defiance in Hong Kong with host Diana Fu and discusses the untold history Hong Kong is claiming, just as it is being erased.
For more than two decades, Louisa Lim covered China and Hong Kong for multiple media outlets including the BBC and NPR. Raised in Hong Kong as a half-Chinese, half-English child, Louisa realized that she was uniquely positioned to unearth the city’s untold stories. In her new book, Indelible City, Louisa provides a deeply researched and personal account that casts startling new light on key moments: the British takeover in 1842, the negotiations over the 1997 return to China, and the future Beijing seeks to impose.
As we approach the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong handover, Indelible City contextualizes the untaught history of Hong Kong and ensures Hong Kongers remain at the center of their own story
