Harley Rustad: Lost in the Valley of Death

By TPLCulture

Author, journalist and Royal Geographical Society fellow Harley Rustad takes a deep dive into the life and mysterious death of trained and experienced world traveller Justin Alexander Shetler in his new book Lost in the Valley of Death.
After quitting his tech job to ride his motorcycle across the United States and later through South America, Shetler built a strong following on social media by sharing his personal search for authentic experiences and meaningful encounters. This journey would eventually lead to ever-greater extremes and greater risks in his quest for spiritual revelation, taking him to the remote and rugged corner of the Indian Himalayas, the Parvati Valley. After spending weeks under the guidance of an Indian holy man, Shetler set out on a spiritual journey to a holy lake, never to be seen again.
Harley Rustad shares Lost in the Valley of Death with host Kate Harris (Lands of Lost Borders) and discusses how the path to spiritual enlightenment can prove fraught and even treacherous.
