About the Authors
Callie Browning: Night owl, incurable foodie and non-stop meal experimenter, Callie is also the author behind The Girl with the Hazel Eyes, featured by Oprah Magazine and winner of a 2019 NIFCA Silver Medal. Her second novel, The Vanishing Girls, was released in March 2021. Callie was born and raised on the beautiful island of Barbados where she still resides with her family.
Christopher Chambers is a Washington, D.C. native and Professor of Media Studies at Georgetown University. His first hardcover crime novels werepublished by Random House starting in 2001, Sympathy for the Devil and A Prayer for Deliverance; his short story “Leviathan” was among the finalists for the 2007 PEN/Malamud Award for short fiction. He is the author of pulp fiction genre Rocket Crockett and the Shanghai She Devil,and a contributor to Black Pulp I; II and The Bronze Buckaroo Rides Again. He co-edited the popular The Darker Mask with hardboiled noir crime author Gary Phillips in 2008. His work appears in the political/pulp/speculative fiction anthology The Obama Inheritance, with Walter Mosley, published by Three Rooms Press; Three Rooms Press debuted his noir, gritty Scavenger, A Mystery at the end of 2020; it received a starred review and profile in Publishers Weekly as groundbreaking and was nominated for a Shamus Award for Best Original Paperback. The sequel, Bellerophon, will be out in late 2022.
H.C. Chan, also known as Vera Chan, makes her fiction debut in MIDNIGHT HOUR. A former lifestyles/A&E reporter/editor in Bay Area newspapers, magazines and online, Vera has worked at the world's biggest online destinations (Yahoo and Microsoft). She is represented by the Jennifer de Chiara Agency. Her unpublished humor novel, THE MOUNTED POSITION, came in second in the Women’s National Book Association SF Chapter’s fiction category awards. An early draft of her mystery, FOLLOWING, won the Sisters in Crime Eleanor Taylor Bland award for a mystery-in-progress from a writer of color.
Tracy Clark, a native Chicagoan, is the author of the Cass Raines Chicago Mystery series, featuring ex- cop turned PI Cassandra Raines. A multi-nominated Anthony, Lefty and Shamus Award finalist, she is also the 2020 winner of the G.P. Putnam’s Sons Sue Grafton Memorial Award. Tracy is a member of Crime Writers of Color and serves on the boards of Mystery Writers of America Midwest, Sisters in Crime Chicagoland and Bouchercon national. Her latest book, RUNNER, released in June 2021.
Faye Snowden is the author of three mysteries with Kensington, Spiral of Guilt, The Savior, and Fatal Justice. She has published short stories and poems in various literary journals, anthologies, and small presses including The African American Review. Her short story, quot;One Bullet. One Vote" is anthologized in The Best American Mystery and Suspense of 2021. A Killing Rain, a new book in her noir mystery Killing series (Flame Tree Press) is due out next year. Faye is a member of Sisters in Crime and serves as secretary for SinC National. Aside from her publications, she managed two boys, a husband, five dogs and three writing fellowships over the years. Today, Faye works and writes from her home in Northern California.
