A battlefield has great potential to tell us more about the events that it witnessed. As we approach the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, new archaeological work is being undertaken to discover more about the famous action.

Waterloo Uncovered is a charity that combines archaeology with veteran care and recovery. It gives veterans and serving personnel, many suffering from the physical and mental impacts of their service, the opportunity to excavate the historic battlefield of Waterloo.

Charity CEO Mark Evans and archaeological director Dr Tony Pollard will be in conversation with Dr Peter Johnston of the National Army Museum about their work on the Waterloo battlefield.

Mark Evans is an Army veteran and one of the founders of the Waterloo Uncovered project. He  took part in excavations with other charities during his own recovery from PTSD.

Dr Tony Pollard is the Director of the Centre for Battlefield Archaeology and Professor of Conflict History and Archaeology at the University of Glasgow.
